I promised several weeks ago that I’d returned for a regular post on STEMz. Well, it just hasn’t happened that way, but I’m here to say: I’M BACK (again).
I have a current event topic tonight:
Some MEN with very deep pockets are launching an endeavor to mine for asteroids. They hope to find minerals that are useful to us on earth, including some that we’ve yet to discover.
My question: where are the innovative ideas from the women in STEM? Well, besides working and taking care of the kids and cooking and washing and… What do you mean there’s supposed to be time for daydreaming?
I do wish them well. Our nation has needed a ‘go to the moon’ project for years. Something that John Kennedy started in the early 1960’s, that created jobs and saw a nation working towards one goal. Our nation is so disjointed right now that the creation of a nation goal would surely put the politics aside and turn us around.
America and innovation just don’t go together like they used to. This quest for asteroids and their hidden treasures could be a start.
I just wish more women had more time to daydream another venture as well. How cool would that be? Any Amelia’s or Florence’s or Marie’s out there?
